October 2025 Meeting

We had another great breakfast meeting this month. We missed a few of our fellow members who were traveling and a few who were at home recovering from surgery. Club business carried on mostly as usual, but with a shortened Treasurer’s Report and no 50/50 draw.

The highlight of the meeting was the arrival of two guests, from Camrose, coming to check out the club and seeking to become licensed Radio Amateurs. Their hobby is sailing the oceans, and their sailboat has an SSB HF radio on board, which they are hoping to begin using legally. Of course, we gave them a warm welcome, connected them to various resources to learn about ham radio, and talked about the Marine Safety and Cruising Nets that take place on the HF ham bands for sailors just like them.

After the meeting and breakfast were over, my wife and I took our new friends to visit the VE6UU repeater tower site in the centre of Camrose to show what the repeater tower and antenna look like and how it works. I forgot to ask them how they heard about our little club.
